This Privacy Policy describes the personal information Crossroads Community Association collects about you, and how we use and share that information. This policy applies to personal information we collect when you register for an account; subscribe to our newsletter; sign up for club or event notifications; access or use our website, products, or services (collectively, the “Services”); or when you otherwise interact with us, including through e-mail and other electronic messages. It does not apply to information collected by (i) us offline or through any other means, or (ii) any third party, including through any application or content that may link to or be accessible from our Services.

Personal information is information that can be associated with and used to identify a specific person. Information that has been anonymized so that it does not identify a specific individual is not personal information and may be used for any lawful purpose.

1. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update or change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on this page and revising the “Effective Date” above. Your continued use of the Services after any update constitutes your acceptance of the then-effective Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

2. Information We Collect

We obtain information about you through your interaction with CCA and, in limited cases, through third parties. The types of personal information we may collect include:

Information you provide directly to us:

  • Account registration: Your name, e-mail address, and password when you create an account or join CCA as a member.
  • Newsletter & notifications: Your e-mail address and communication preferences when you subscribe to our newsletter or opt in to receive club and event notifications.
  • Contact & feedback forms: Your name, e-mail address, and any message content you submit through our contact form or surveys.
  • Club participation: Information you provide when joining a community club, attending events, or engaging with club resources.
  • Donations: CCA accepts donations through its fiduciary partner, Rescue MI Nature Now, Inc. Payment and billing information you provide in connection with a donation is collected and processed by Rescue MI Nature Now, Inc. and their payment processor. CCA does not directly collect or store your payment card information. Please review Rescue MI Nature Now’s privacy policy for information on how your payment data is handled.

Information collected automatically:

When you use our Services, we may automatically collect certain technical information, including:

  • Protecting the rights, safety, and property of CCA, our community members, and others.

If you opt out of promotional or newsletter communications, we may still send you transactional messages necessary to administer your account, such as password-reset emails or membership confirmations.

5. Photography & Media

Crossroads Community Association documents its community programs, events, and club activities through photography and videography. By participating in CCA events, club activities, or other in-person programs, or by using features of the Services that allow you to submit photos or media, you acknowledge that images and video recordings in which you appear may be captured.

CCA may use such photographs and video recordings for non-commercial community-benefit purposes, including:

  • Our website, community gallery, and digital publications.
  • CCA’s official social media accounts and online communications.
  • Grant applications, community reports, and fundraising materials.

CCA does not profit from the use of any individual’s likeness and will not sell or license images or recordings to commercial third parties for advertising purposes.

If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded at a CCA event, please notify the event organizer at the time of the event. If you have a concern about a specific image or video that has already been published, you may submit a removal request by emailing crossroadsassociation.detroit@gmail.com. CCA will review all removal requests and make good-faith efforts to accommodate them where reasonable. However, CCA retains the right to keep published photos and videos that were captured in a community or public setting, and removal is not guaranteed.

6. Updating Your Information

You may review, update, or correct your personal information at any time by logging into your account or by contacting us at crossroadsassociation.detroit@gmail.com. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to honor such requests in a timely manner.

7. Links to Other Websites

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites, including partner organizations, city agencies, and social media platforms. CCA is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Once you leave our Services via a link, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not submit any personal information through our Services. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child may have submitted personal information to us should contact us immediately at crossroadsassociation.detroit@gmail.com.

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect the personal information you provide against accidental loss and unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. If you have created an account, you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for any activity that occurs under your account.

Unfortunately, no method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure. While we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy or security measures contained in the Services.

10. "Do Not Track" Disclosures

Some web browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal that communicates your preference not to be tracked across websites. Our Services currently do not alter their data collection and use practices in response to “Do Not Track” signals.
